If it slides inward, then you can rekey the locks to match each other. However, if the key is not inserted, then it means that the cylinders (keys) are different and the lock cannot work with that key. Once you've established that the locks have the same key holder, you can rekey them so they use one key. This will make it easier and more convenient for you to access both locks with one key.
